Films 2002

After VideoMarathon’s great success the first year, the event was moved to Zentropa in Copenhagen, where most of Lars von Trier’s films have been made. The event took place on August 30th – September 1st 2002. From having a few contestants from abroad the first year, the interest from the surrounding countries grew in 2002, along with the number of enrolments. In 2002 the subject, which was revealed right before the start, was “love”. In addition to participants from Denmark, a significant part came from Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland and the Faeroe Islands.

The award show took place on Saturday September 21st in the Grand Theatre in Copenhagen. The prizes were a trip for two to Hollywood, an iMac and a DV-camera from JVC. The winner was the 22 year-old Anders Malmberg, who in addition to the VideoMarathon trophy and an iMac, also received a director’s contract for a film production. The production grant had a value of DKK 150,000, which was given by Zentropa Real and True Stories. Zentropa Real is the responsible producer and the film will be shown on the Danish TV-channel DR2.
